The Success of the 12 Point Program as part of the Christian Rehab

The Christian Rehabs depend mainly on the twelve point program to reach a complete healing of the alcohol addicted individuals. The Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) was among the pioneers of propagating this program. Initially a five set rule was devised start with treatment but the founding members of Alcoholics Anonymous soon came out with a set of 12 principles to deal with the problem of alcoholism and its treatment. The underlying principles behind this 12 point program are as follows:

· Group therapies will be practiced where the groups will try help themselves as well as the members of the other groups to leave alcohol or drugs.

· All the alcohol or drug addicted individuals should be more than ready to accept their addiction and look towards its treatment willingly.

· Each and all members of the groups should try to help each other to forget addiction and get recovered completely.

· The group will discuss about the possible causes of alcohol or drug addiction and try finding ways to handle these situations effectively.

The Success of the Twelve Point Program:

In 1953 Alcoholics Anonymous permitted Narcotics Anonymous to use the twelve points and also to use them under the umbrella of the Christian rehab centers. The following enlistment proves the success of the 12 point program:

1. The first step is to accept addiction. Only when a person fully accepts the disease of addiction can they be treated. Thus the very fact of approaching Christian rehab centers proves the success of this first step. Without acceptance of addiction treatment is not possible.

2. Approaching a Christian center is enough to have proved the second step, which seeks to have unquestioned faith in the power of God to heal addiction. Only when a person has faith in God will he or his family members seek resort in these centers.

3. The individuals have to agree to the supremacy of God in having an influencing power on their lives and in the same time have some faith in the verses of Bible to improve their lives. This faith gives a direction to the radar less lives of the alcoholics.

4. A fear of the sins they are committing by resorting to alcohol or drugs are instilled in them. This fear gives the alcoholics or the drug addicts the courage to fight their insecurities.

5. The acceptance of addiction coupled with accepting the fact that their actions have created a lot of trouble for themselves and their family. The center tries to instill courage in these individuals to take responsibility for their actions.

6. The alcoholic individuals should have complete faith over God and entrust Him with the responsibility of curing them from the disease of addiction completely.

In ways more than one, we find that this rehab program is far better and unlike other rehab regimes.
