Do You Think My Friend Is Ok?
Question by Y: Do you think my friend is ok?
We were friends 2 years. She is in a very abusive marriage — broken bones, arrests, threats from her husband to kill her (she once overdosed because she was so scared he would kill her, and she wanted to be dead already). He calls her the most terrible things in front of her kids (aged 14 and 16) from a previous marriage. They both abuse alcohol and drugs. She told me she sometimes hopes he will kill her, because then she will be out of her misery.
Well, when I tried to help her 6 months ago, she turned on me. She told me I was out to “ruin her family”. I filed a police report when her husband told me how he wanted to kill her. I only tried to help, but she saw it as a HUGE threat.
Now, her and her husband are out to tell the world they are happy, have a happy marriage, are great to her kids, etc. They did this to “prove me wrong.”
Do you think my interference worked — are they truly “ok” now or is it all an act?
