Question by russellc85: What is the shot to stop drinking?
I have a friend who read that there is shot you can get once a month and takes your feeling the “need/urge” to drink down to like 2-3 times a month. I cant find it online but I have heard of it before from other people does anyone know the name? Thanks!

Antabuse is a common medication to treat alcoholism.
“Disulfiram interferes with the metabolism of alcohol resulting in unpleasant effects when alcohol is consumed. Disulfiram is used to treat chronic alcoholism.”

There is an article here that talks about the FDA approving a once-a-month injectable medication:
“The Food and Drug Administration approved Vivitrol, spokeswoman Laura Alvey said. Cambridge, Mass.-based Alkermes Inc. will make the injectable form of the drug, also known as naltrexone. Cephalon Inc., of Frazer, Pa., will market and sell it.”
