For the next Poetry Corner, choose one of the following titles and comment below: – Little Sheep in the Wolf’s Den – Angels & Demons – Resurrection “Solace in the Candlelight” — Written by Drew Tombs Spare me your one-track mind situations of ‘blissful delight’ Sing another song of segregation for things which you can never hope to find Dance around the midnight moonlight Dance around your perverse mind And find yourself with a bottle of whiskey You’re all alone tonight Contemplate and reflect in the dimness of the candlelight Watch as the flame dances with the breeze And just like everything we know Everything we are Everything we’ve come to be That delicate little flame is our only source of light And the night’s gonna be one hell of a cold place Treat the flame with ease Let it find some peace Know that you have no solace to be found Your feet are firmly on the ground but everything can change You think that no obstacles stand in your way This is not a one dimensional shape This situation is full of complexity But just find that vintage bottle of whiskey Drown your sorrows tonight That little flame is burning bright And the wax seeps slowly down the side Further dimming that elegant candlelight That precious flame is the only thing keeping you warm through the night Don’t let it die Don’t be scared by the disfigured shadows that grow across the walls You’re failing to recognise and appreciate the solace of
