Why Is Obesity Being More Accepted in Society?
Question by : Why is obesity being more accepted in society?
My question essentially is why aren’t people being bullied into eating less? If obesity is society’s problem then why isn’t “society” taking care of it? For example in France, alcoholism is viewed as another one of society’s problems and they will gang up on individuals who chose to consume excessive alcohol. Same kind of situation happens in India. People will group up and complain complain complain within earshot until change actually happens.
Is the problem with the US is that people are so brainwashed as consumers that only the individual matters anymore? Is the idea of the peer group diminishing? Will the “problem” just become “normal” once 75% of the US population is overweight?
What’s going on here?
