Are Candida Die-Off Symptoms Making You Sick?

After several weeks on a yeast free diet, you expect to start feeling better… but maybe you don’t notice any improvement. If you don’t, you may be experiencing Candida die-off symptoms. If so, rejoice! It’s working.

What are Candida die-off symptoms? As the yeast cells die off from being starved of food, toxins are released from the body’s cells. Sometimes the toxins release in greater quantity than the body can handle at one time. This happens because the die-off overloads the body’s detoxification organs, the liver and kidneys.

The cellular release of toxins due to this diet can cause many symptoms that will make it seem as if you are getting worse, not better. Don’t become discouraged! This is normal. Symptoms will vary in degree from one individual to another.

Some of the Candida die-off symptoms to look for are similar to the symptoms of the disease. The most common symptoms include:

Flu like symptoms
low grade fever
diarrhea or constipation
nausea
gas
bloating
sore throat
fatigue
joint and muscle pain
itching
loss of weight
numbness in the arms
strong body odor
anxiety
brain fog

Some people have compared it to going through drug withdrawal.

Things you can do to minimize these symptoms are:

Drink lots of water throughout the day. Warm water is best
Rest more and get lots of sleep
Minimize or discontinue the use of anti-fungal medicines and probiotics until you feel better
If you have access to a sauna, use it. (The skin is the body’s largest detoxification organ.)
Take a hot bath with Epsom salts for 20 minutes
Take doses of the mineral molybdenum and the vitamin pantethine (B5)
Take a vitamin C supplement daily
Add psyillium husks to your water to increase bowel movement
Take Bentonite Clay capsules to help absorb the toxins being released

The symptoms of Candida die-off will diminish as more toxins leave the body via digestive elimination. They may last a few days, or a few weeks, depending on how much toxic growth you have, and how healthy you were to begin with. Just remember, this is a normal and necessary thing for the body to do to cleanse itself. The discomfort you undergo in order to clean out these toxins is well worth it in the long run.
