t’s okay to be religious, but they may be a little over the top. They have three kids aged 10 to 13. (I am going to call them kid 1, 2 and 3). Two boys, one girl. I’m just a few years older.
They are very, very, extremely conservative. Kid 2 said that if you want unbiased news, watch FOX. He said that Obama and all democrats don’t believe in God and are anti-christ. He said that Obama has in his mind to kill everyone and send the US down the drain. He believes in death panels.
Kid 2 also said that he father used to be a drunk. (Note: he did not say “alcoholic.” He said “drunk.”)
And Jesus came and whispered in his ear that it was going to be okay, and the alcoholism disappeared. (Kid 2 is the strangest of all). He always talks about God, and eleven-year-old kids don’t do that.
They constantly, constantly tell on eachother. They say if they don’t, the devil will send them to hell. So whenever someone says words like “crap” “gay” or “shut up,” the other two immediately run to their parents to tell. It’s almost cult-like. Kids don’t do that.
I told them once that they need to form an alliance, then they never get in trouble. They shouldn’t rat eachother out all the time. Kid 1 said: “I think the devil is churning something in you.”
They used to come over All. The. Time. Since they met my mom’s significant other (pretty much a husband without marriage; not a boyfriend if you know what I mean) who is black, they haven’t come over. They acted so stunned when he walked in the door and started firing off questions like “Does your dad know?” “Are they going to marry?” “Do they kiss?” “Do they sleep together?” “How often does he come over?” “Does your dad have a girlfriend?” “How many times have they divorced?” They never asked about him being black, but I know that that’s what was on their minds. I’m sure by the way they spew things out of their mouth, it was the talk of the night that my mom’s boyfriend is black.
