Many adults simply take to drugs and alcoholic drinks because of pressure from friends. For the teenagers, the parents need to  ensure that their young ones do not have bad friends. This means that you need to monitor the kind of friends your child moves or plays with.

Another thing that can lead someone to this  trouble is curiosity. Many alcohol and drug addicts out there confess that their curiosity led them into it. They only wanted to know how it feels to take them and before they know, they have been hooked. Parents must try their best to guide the curiosity of their children. Try and answer their questions. This will keep them from getting answers from addicts out there.
 
The mass media is another cause of the  trouble. Young people often see adverts in the media portraying these vices as fun. This makes them want to be like their hero who indulges in drugs and alcohol. So, parents need to  ensure that their children are educated about the negative aspects.  Also, the government must  check that media houses are closely monitored.

The  end result of alcohol and drug abuse is very  distressing. Many families have lost their loved ones. And  several marriages have been broken. Many people have also lost their high paying jobs.
