In 1895, a boy named Bill Wilson was born in this hotel, the Mt. Aeolus Inn, in East Dorset, Vermont. Bill W grew up to become the co-founder of Alcoholics Anonymous. This birthplace hotel was later re-named the “Wilson House” and still operates as a hotel and retreat for recovering alcoholics who come by the thousands every year to attend AA seminars and meetings and to visit Bill W’s grave.
