I’m Scared My Placenta May Shut Down?

Question by Sheena: I’m Scared My Placenta May Shut Down?
Ladies, I guess it’s because my pregnancy has gone off without a hitch thus far that I’m finding things to worry about.
What are some of the signs that your placenta is shutting down.
I guess here’s why I’m so concerned (and for those of you who are pregnant, please understand that at 39 weeks, I may connect stupid “symptoms” to “problems”
1) I drinks TONNES of water (because I’m always thirsty) and I don’t ever pee
2) The swelling in my hands and feet is completely gone
3) I don’t even feel pregnant
I am getting lots of movement, which I’m very happy about. But I heard that when your placenta stops working, it can change the hormones it releases (thus no more swelling and not feeling very pregnant).
I guess on the bright side, the fact that I’m freaking out may mean my hormones may be in line, lol.
Any advice?
Xo
Ladies, thank-you so much for your quick responses. I feel much better now.

Your placenta dying off before 41 weeks is EXTREMELY rare. Have you gone to your doctor and asked these questions? I’m betting they will probably have a better answer than people online.
