Coping With Alcoholic: Is It Borderline Personality Disorder or Social Anxiety? or Both?

Question by : Is it borderline personality disorder or social anxiety? Or both?
These are some of the symptoms:
-low self confidence
-little self worth
-feeling like a failure
-painfully shy around people I don’t know and sometimes even shy and awkward around friends
-a need to be liked and understood
-feeling like an outsider
-a fear of being alone and of being rejected or abandoned
-empty feeling
-quick changing moods including violent emotional behaviour towards family and loved ones
-suicidal thoughts
-self harm
-manipulative emotional behaviour to avoid being abandoned
-in a emotionally damaging relationship but I don’t want to leave it because I can’t handle being alone
-being hurt by someone very easily – can lead to feeling rejected and deciding I hate the person, even if what they have done to upset me is something really small

I have been struggling with my mental health for many years and have been in and out of therapy and tried antidepressants with little result so far. I have had depression in the past and am possibly suffering from it now to a lesser extent.

Now I have gone back to the NHS for help because I cannot cope on my own and I want to be able to live my life! But they have only offered me some cognitive behavioural therapy phone sessions and self help books. I just wonder if you guys think I have borderline personality disorder because I have read a bit about it and I thought it kind of sounded like me. My phone sessions are about social anxiety though which I do think I have but with my emotions being so out of control sometimes I wonder if it is more than that. Has anyone had an experience of being treated for borderline personality disorder?
